Which universities in North Carolina produce more high-earning female alumni by volume than any other institutions in the state? To find out, we narrowed our dataset of over 130 million people to 1.5 million alumni who earned a degree in North Carolina. Then, we sliced the population using gender and income filters to isolate female alumni who earn $100,000 per year or more.

Here are the institutions in North Carolina with the highest volume of high-earning female graduates.

1. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

The top industries for female graduates of UNC Chapel Hill across all segments are healthcare, education and information technology. These alumni enjoy an average salary much higher than the national average at $91,950.

2. Duke University

Duke University is ranked No. 9 by U.S. News for National Universities in 2022 and is attractive to top employers like Google, Microsoft and Amazon who hire high volumes of their female graduates.

Top Major for Employer: Business Administration

3. North Carolina State University

North Carolina State University has earned an A+ for their Overall Niche Grade, which includes top scores for academics, diversity, value and campus. Cisco is a top employer for female alumni from NC State who are hired as business analysts and software engineers over any other role.

4. East Carolina University
